| November HighlightsThe tendency is being confirmed every month : Top 10 Free Apps are led by Digital leaders (Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, etc.) and Top 10 Paid Apps by less hegemonic companies but nonetheless famous in their fields (Notability, GoodReader, etc.).
This state of art and its inertia is interesting. A conclusion that can be made about it is that Apple iPad Charts does not help to promote outsiders, new promising apps. It doesn’t take risks. The charts seem to be cumulative : the more downloads you get and the more time you stay in a high position in the Top 10 Best Productivity apps for iPad, the more you’ll remain well ranked and appear at the Top. Therefore, the chances for a freshly arrived app or an established and growing one to be featured in the Top 10 of its category are low. However, the chances are low but existing. Regularly, one or two apps emerge in the Top 10 for some days/weeks before returning to the depth of Apple’s Charts. These episodic but nonetheless regular highlights may provide a boost in the popularity of the apps concerned but won’t help to promote their reputation in a sustainable way. On the contrary, if you manage a place in the Top 10 because of your success, you could stay there forever. |
