Interesting research to recommended day to publish an App on the AppStore or Android.

Contrary to popular belief, it’s not during week days but on Sunday.
Basically, they had a look at how many apps starting on a day will be featured in the TOP 240 ranking of the store during a 17 week period.
During that time, around 90.000 apps were released on the AppStore and 120.000 apps on the Android Market. It makes it significant numbers so as to the conclusion I guess.
Interesting figures to highlight:
– out of Apple Apps launched on Sundays, 42% of them reached the TOP 240 whereas only 24% of those launched on Fridays made it there. If you think of it, it’s a +75% increase in odds just by picking the right day. Certainly something you should consider as a developper in you intend to sell your app.
– Even compared to the average other days, it’s still a +15% to 25% increase, which is significant enough to take this into account.
– Last interesting facts, the difference between the AppStore and the Android market. Only 10% of new apps on Android made it to the TOP 240 in 17 weeks. Which means you have 4 times more chance of being discovered as a new App on the Apple Store than on Android market. Certainly another point to carefully consider.
This study was run between tMay the 16th and september the 8th 2011, quite a recent insight on what’s going on on those App market.
Beesy is to be released anytime soon, probably approved by Apple during next week. I will definitely not launch it on friday ( I had no intention anyway) but I had initially targeted a Monday release. Should you launch a Business App on a sunday as well ?
that’s something the study do not show: how the category does affect the results.
