Interesting story here at AppAnnie , where you get to know who actually speaks english in our small world. What do we learn: – French are terrible in english, with 35% of paid downloads in their local language. Ok, we already knew that 🙂 – But Chinese mostly download in their home language, with more that 50% of free and paid downloads in their native tongue.   More generally, on the paid markets, Asian markets requires local language in more that 30% of their downloads, France peaks at 35% for Europe but globally big non English european countries ( Germany, Italy, Spain) still average at 20% download in native language. So the question we ask ourselves at BeesApps is: should a software development company focused on business productivity tools focus a lot on the localization issue ( believe me I’m french I know how much most French people talk English) or on the features of the product. Can we assume that the business target might have a higher level in English and thus skip the localization ? How important is this to you ? I’ll definitely be reading your comment on this one.
